A 10-year-old boy, from Kerala’s Kozhikode, decided to approach the police with a handwritten complaint when his and his brother’s cycles were not repaired for nearly three months. The boy wrote the complaint on a page of a notebook and submitted it to the Meppayur police station requesting them to get the cycles repaired immediately.

In his complaint dated November 25, Abin, a Class 5 student at Vilayattor Elampilad LP School in Kozhikode, wrote that he and his brother had given the cycles for repair work on September 5.

“We haven’t received the cycles yet. They had collected Rs 200 for repairing the cycles. Sometimes they don’t attend the call. And when they do, they repeat they’ll repair them. Whenever we went to the shop, we found it was closed,” Abin wrote in Malayalam.

The child added that there was no one else at home to enquire about the cycles and thus, requested the police to get their cycles returned.

When the police received the complaint, they decided to take action. Officer Radhika NP went to the repair shop to enquire why there was so much delay in the service.

The shopkeeper told the cop that he was unable to open the shop for some time as he was unwell and also because he was busy with his son’s wedding. However, he promised to do the repair work by Thursday.

The police took to Facebook today to update that the complaint was addressed and the cycles were returned to the boys. The department also shared a photo of the boys with their cycles.

The police department has earned praise from netizens. A user said, “Those children will surely believe that we will have the help and protection of Kerala police in any situation.”
