Assam on Friday reported the first coronavirus death, it is also the first in the entire northeastern region.
The deceased was a 65-year-old man from Hailakandi, with a travel history to Saudi Arabia. He has tested positive for the novel coronavirus on April 7. As informed by the health department, the man passed away due to complication of infection at Silchar Medical College and Hospital, SMCH today early morning.
State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted that the 65-year-old COVID-19 patient from Hailakandi district passed away due to complication of infection.
