As a continued part of awareness and distribution drive, Assam Rifle troops from the Serchhip battalion of Champai and Vamphai company distributed essential kits and ration to the locals in various villages in Mizoram. The battalion interacted with the village task force members, VCPs sharing the guidelines on effective border guarding and handed over the dry ration and essential kits to them.
Amid this lockdown, Assam Rifles is working day and night in reaching out to the needy people and rendering their services in different capacities across the region to prevent the containment of COVID-19. The battalion has ensured effective guarding of the Indo-Myanmar border in coordination with VLTFs by curtailing the movements on all routes. Through strict patrolling over day and night, the troops are ensuring to control the spread of COVID-19 and provide a safe and secure environment in the state.
The VLTFs and VCPs have appreciated the continuous support and services provided by the Assam Rifles amidst this extended lockdown and ensured its support to fight against the spread of this disease.
The Assam Rifles also visited Thutak Nunpuitu team, a local orphanage home in Hranchalkwan block of Lunglei district in Mizoram.
The AR officials headed by Major Dileep Singh Khargarot handed over an essential kit and dry ration like rice, pulses, sugar, coffee and milk to the caretakers of the orphanage home.
The Assam Rifles team took this opportunity to interact and educate the children and caretakers about the do’s and don’ts of COVID-19 pandemic and advised them to take all necessary precaution as per the government guidelines. The children and caretaker were briefed about the use of masks and frequent hand washing habits and maintaining social distancing to fight against the spread of the disease.
This initiative was applauded by the children and the caretakers and they too pledged to support and follow the social distancing norms and other safety measures to fight COVID-19.
