Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday announced that the Indian Council of Medical Research, ICMR has recognised the Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh as an accredited laboratory for testing COVID-19. With this Assam now has seven accredited labs in the state.
The Health Minister took to Twitter to share the information:

This is the seventh centre which has been approved by the ICMR on Tuesday for COVID-19 testing.
Earlier, the ICMR accredited six government laboratories spread across the state for testing samples of suspected COVID-19 patients. These six centres are located at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital, Jorhat Medical College and Hospital, Silchar Medical College and Hospital, Regional Medical Research Center, Fakkhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College, and Tezpur Medical College and Hospital.
With the detection of one more case in Kokrajhar, on May 5 the total number of cases in the state stands at 44. As of now, there are 11 active cases, while a total of 32 have been cured or discharged. So far the state has reported one fatality.
Alert ~ One person from Kokrajhar dist, with a travel history of Cooch Behar in West Bengal, has tested positive for #COVID19.
