Manipur state govt sought feedback on restoring of academic activities

The Manipur Government has sought response from public and various stakeholders regarding the restoration of academic activities in the best manner possible in the interest of the students.

In a notification issued by the Department of Education, it has mentioned that owing to the COVID-19 pandemic the educational institutions have been closed, as a precautionary measure for the children who are the vulnerable group since March 12. It further stated that it has affected the education of children whose learning levels have allegedly been dropped despite online and other learning options were made available to them.

Expressing concern that closure of schools for such a long time has also impacted the physical, health and mental well being of the children as well as their parents/guardians, the Government is considering restoring of academic activities in the best possible manner in the interest of the students.

As such the state government has sought advice, suggestions, inputs, feedbacks and opinions from the public and the concerned stakeholders including Principal/Heads of government and Private institutions, NGOs, Student Organisations, renowned academicians, parents and any person having considerable knowledge of working in schools before taking an appropriate and consensus decision for re-opening of educational institutions and functioning of this institutions in post COVID period.

The state government through the notification as sought advice/inputs/feedbacks/suggestions on the following grounds:

  • Precautionary measures that may be taken before and after the opening of educational institutions.
  • Preferable timeline for opening of schools.
  • Contents of Revised Academic Calendar.
  • Any other additional issues/matter related to opening of schools and related issues (if any)
