Animal Rights Activist Hema Choudhury, who has been accused of allegedly making ‘racist’ comments against the people of Nagaland for consuming dog meat has been arrested by the Nagaland Police from Mumbai.

As per reports, Hema Choudhary had made the remarks in a Youtube video after which an offence was registered by the cyber crime police station in Nagaland under relevant sections of the IndianPenalCode, the official informed.

“On Friday, a Nagaland police team informed us about the case and then went to Hema Choudhary’s residence and arrested her. She will be taken to Nagaland for further probe,” said senior inspector Dayanand Bangar of Oshiwara police station.

Hema Chodhury in her video lashed out at the people of Nagaland for consuming dog meat and used objectionable comments against the people of Nagaland following which a case was registered in Kohima.

Earlier, her video garnered a lot of negative comments and she faced a backlash from the netizens.

It needs to be mentioned here that the Government of Nagaland had banned the commercial import and trading of dogs, prohibited dog markets and sale of dog meat in the state.
