Security forces have seized huge amounts of banned drugs and apprehended a drug peddler in an operation conducted in Guwahati’s Beltola area.
Around six kilograms of Yaba tablets worth around Rs 1 crore were seized from a vehicle.
According to reports, officials from the intelligence unit of the Assam Rifles had specific inputs of a deal, following which they helped a Basistha police team, led by Sub-Inspector Deepjyoti Ingti, intercept an e-rickshaw (AS 25ER 3306), in which the drugs were found hidden in a small compartment below the driver’s seat.
The driver tried to flee but was apprehended. He has been identified as Rinku Raj Choudhury (25) of Beltola.
The intelligence unit of the Assam Rifles suspects that more people could be involved in this illegal trade. They said they might conduct more such operations in the near future.
