In a horrifying incident, a 45-year-old killed his wife and mother-in-law in the presence of his two children in Ambassa of Dhalai district in Tripura.

The police said Narayan Das killed his wife 38-year-old Jaya Das and his mother-in-law Kajoli Sahi.

Narayan, a resident of Hapania, who worked at Agartala Municipal Corporation, attacked them in a fit of rage at their home.

Both died on the spot when Narayan Das attacked them with a sharp weapon following an argument with his wife and mother-in-law. Jaya had been staying with her parents for some months due to family problems.

Police have arrested the accused but had a tough time taking him to the police station as a large crowd blocked their way. Family members of the victims said Narayan and Jaya were married for 15 years and had two kids.
