SBI organizes mega credit delivery camp in Tura

The State Bank of India, Tura region on Monday organized a mega credit delivery camp at DRDA hall, Tura. The event was attended by Mr.Ram Singh, Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills as the Chief Guest and Mr.Subhas Das, DGM (B&O), SBI, Shillong as the Guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ram Singh expressed his satisfaction on the various initiatives being taken up by SBI to strengthen the rural sector and further urged the bank officials present to improve timely credit delivery to the farmers and entrepreneurs to bring about better socio-economic development in the district. He also urged the borrowers to ensure proper utilization of the funds, generate sufficient income and timely repayment of the loans. In his address, DGM Mr.Subhas Das briefly outlined the various initiatives being undertaken by SBI in Garo hills to revive the economy after Covid-19 and highlighted  the salient features of various schemes available in the Bank. He urged upon the gathering to take advantage of the interest subvention being offered by the govt by ensuring prompt repayment of the loans. In his welcome remarks, Mr.Dharmananda Banai, Regional Manager reiterated that SBI with its presence in far flung remote areas was committed to serve the people of Garo hills better in the days to come. He outlined the recent initiatives being taken by SBI like installing of more ATMs and opening of more branches in various parts of Garo hills. Today’s mega credit delivery camp benefitted more than 100 individuals with total loan sanctioned amounting to Rs.5.40 crores. The sanction letters were handed over to various beneficiaries under different govt schemes. The beneficiaries included amongst others one loan sanctioned under agriculture infrastructure fund for mustard oil production which is the first in the state of Meghalaya. Besides there were several beneficiaries under the newly launched PMSuvanidhi for street vendors, PMEGP, Mudra, KCC and Stand-up India schemes. An important highlight of the programme was that all PMSuvanidhi beneficiaries were enabled with SBI Bhim Pay which will enable the vendors to receive online payments from customers.

The event concluded with the customary vote of thanks by Mr.Hangzho, Chief Manager (Credit), RBO,Tura.
