BAJALI, MARCH 3: Pushing his rickety wheelchair might be still hard for Akan Rai, but he is a happier man these days.
After long years of struggle, he has seen a ray of hope of living a better life.
With the assistance of the state government in the form of various schemes by the likes of Rai has made this difference in his life among people like him.
“My life was full of struggle all along. But this govt has really relieved my pain in accessing the basic amenities,” says Rai, a resident of Borbang, Majipara in Bajali district.
Rai further added that although people may say a lot of negative of the BJP government, what matters most is at the end of the day when we come back home we should at least live in a self-dependent way.
“Thanks to the government schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (Saubhagya), these have brought the much-needed succour to his life, ” he added.
“We received house (PMAY), gas (Saubhagya), electricity (PMUY), etc.,” said Rai.
It is to be mentioned that the BJP- led Assam government in the post 5 years of governance have introduced many schemes for the welfare of the people of the Assam- be it BPL or others.
One of the schemes is the Orunodoi scheme, which has helped many people like Akan Rai to purchase their own medicines besides meeting some other vital expenses.
It may be mentioned here that Orunodoi is the largest social benefits scheme in Assam introduced by Sarbananda Sonowal led government.
Interestingly, the most crucial factor that brought smiles to many like Rai is the rate of transparency at which schemes are delivered at the grassroots with the help of gaon panchayat or village heads.
“A handicapped person like me cannot make rounds of Govt offices to get these benefits. This time I didn’t have to worry about it. The benefits came through without hassles,” he asserted.
Like Rai we have many stories to share which we can say stories of a better India, keeping aside the political views.
