Arunachal CM Declares to Make Special Provisions for People with Disabilities

The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Government of India in collaboration with Department of Social Justice & Empowerment and Tribal Affairs, WCD & Health, Government of Arunachal Pradesh presented the cultural event DIVYA KALA SHAKTI – Witnessing Ability in Disability at DK Convention Hall, Itanagar on Thursday in the  presence of His Excellency Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh,  Union State Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment, Hon’ble Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment and Tribal Affairs, WCD & Health, Arunachal Pradesh, Secretary, Department of Persons with Disabilities, Government of India and Chief Secretary, Arunachal Pradesh.

About 500 invitees attended who included legislators, members of judiciary, senior officers, civil society organizations, persons with disabilities, parents, teachers, care-givers and students. The programme was organized by Swami Vivekanand National Institue of Rehabilitation Training and Research (SVNIRTAR), Cuttack, Odisha, under DEPwD, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India.

Union Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment could not arrive but graced the occasion with his message of blessings.

In the programme 55 children and youth with various disabilities like visual, hearing, locomotor, autism, intellectual and multiple disabilities performed their cultural activities in front of the esteemed Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and other dignitaries.

By witnessing the event Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh declared to make special budget provisions for the people with disabilities in the current budget session.

Hon’ble Union State Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment also focussed on the development of the Divyangjan through the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and also requested the State Government to take necessary care towards the same.

The flawless event mesmerized the Chief Guest His Excellency Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, who expressed his concern towards the persons with disabilities. He appreciated the steps taken by the Secretary, DEPwD, Governemnt of India towards upliftment of the Divyangjan in the country.
