Remove PM Modi’s Photo from Covid Vaccine Certificates: Election Commission

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has asked the Central government to remove Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photo from Covid-19 vaccine certificates in the poll-bound states and UT.

According to the Economic Times, the EC wrote a letter to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) reiterating its guidelines on the model code of conduct while asking for the removal of the Prime Minister’s image and name in vaccine certificates issued in West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry.

Earlier this week, Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress had written to poll body alleging that the use of PM Modi’s photograph on provisional certificates issued during Covid-19 vaccination violates the model code of conduct.
