For the first time in Guwahati, a 100-strong women’s two-wheeler rally was organised under the name of Mirchi Girls of Guwahati – wherein nearabout 100 women of all ages with their scooters and motorcycles participated. Led by seasoned rider Aarti Das and Nagaland Tourism Brand Ambassador, Onen Nenty, this rally started out from National Livestock Mission Khanapara to Bhangagarh Flyover and back again.
Flagged off by Dispur ACP, Himangshu Das, and attended by ACP Women’s Unit, Rosy Talukdar, renowned vocalist Abhishruti Bezbaruah, and MD of Brahmaputra Tele Production Pvt. Ltd., it was a sight to behold on the sleepy Sunday morning traffic of the city.
Mirchi RJ Gaurab and Mirchi RJ Pallavi entertained on the stage, as Abhishruti Bezbaruah belted out one of her favourite numbers “Roi Roi”. Speaking at the event, Rosy Talukdar appealed to the riders to personally reach out to her for any women-related harassment or crime they might be facing secretly – which was a great boost to the first-of-its-kind women-oriented event in the city.
The riders took home their riding certificates, and look forward to the next edition to be organised by 95 Mirchi Guwahati in 2022.
