Addressing the media in Nalbari on Sunday, Mangaldai Lok Sabha MP Dilip Saikia said that the rise in power and stature of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has been possible in Assam only because of the Congress.
“It is only because of the Congress that AIUDF’s strength in the state has increased by manifolds,” Saikia said.
He was speaking to the media after inaugurating the central election office of BJP in Nalbari at the premises of AGP’s district office.
It may be mentioned here that Jayanta Malla Baruah, who had won from the Nalbari LAC from a Congress election ticket in 2011, will be representing BJP from the constituency.
In 2015 he switched sides and resigned from the Congress and joined BJP, however, he was denied an election ticket in 2016.
“The people of Nalbari LAC should open-heartedly vote for Jayanta Malla Baruah. He is determined to work for the people of the constituency and elevate the LAC to different heights,” Saikia said.
“After Nagen Sarma, let us give Jayanta Malla Baruah a chance to be a part of the Assam cabinet representing Nalbari LAC,” he further said.
He further expressed his confidence that BJP and its allies will win over 100 seats out of the 126 assembly seats and create a record of sort.
“I am confident that our vote and seat share in lower Assam will increase and I believe Jayanta Malla Baruah will receive over 1.3 lakh votes from the constituency,” he said.
