Batadroba BJP MLA Amgoorlata Deka in a recent interaction with the media revealed that she had no intention to contest the 2021 Assam Assembly polls.
“I was happy that I was given the election ticket in 2016 and I was able to carry forward the party’s motto and goals in the last five years. I had no intention to contest the polls this year. Since the party has shown immense faith in me and the senior leadership decided to field me, I am happy to represent the constituency,” she said.
“I am confident of my victory this time and this will be my last elections. I won’t be contesting after five years,” she added.
“If I am elected this year, the first two years I will work with the youth of the constituency and see that they are established in life. There won’t be any division among the youths based on their political affiliation. And the remaining three years I will work for the all-round development of the constituency,” she further said.
“Well, by establishment I don’t mean I will provide them with a job. However, I will see that every youth is self-dependent and they are established in any field of their choice,” she added.
“Owing to certain personal and social errands, I was not able to give my hundred per cent in the last five years. I aim to fulfil all those unfulfilled works this time,” she said.
