To promote Atmanirbhar Bharat and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Assam Rifles AizawlBattalion under the aegis of Headquarters 23 Sector Assam Rifles/ Headquarters InspectorGeneral Assam Rifles (East) in coordination with the National Jute Board, under the ministry of textiles is organizing a week long exhibition near the Assam Rifles football ground from 16 to 21March 2021. The event was inaugurated by Brigadier Digvijay Singh, SM DIG, 23 Sector AssamRifles on 16 March 2021.
About twenty-four manufacturing enterprises are displaying their eco-friendly products at the fair. The fair showcases jute as a diversified product, various stylish items like jute floorcoverings, hand & shopping bags, wall hangings, gift articles, decorative fabrics, footwear, jewelry, file covers, laptop & mobile bags is being exhibited.
Jute’s appeal as an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional plastic carry bags and its utility for manufacturing wide range of handicraft products has helped it to emerge as one of the success stories of small-scale industry. The fair is being organized in Aizawl to promote jute products and encourage people to include them in day-to-day life which will also facilitate local entrepreneurs to venture into the jute sector and further generate employment avenues.
