Good and competent leaders or members have no respect and value in Assam Congress, said Rajya Sabha MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa.
He was speaking at a function organised to welcome member of the Thengal Kachari Autonomous Council (TKAC) Shyamal Krishna Bora.
Bora, who was elected as a Congress leader to the TKAC, resigned from the party and joined BJP on March 11 citing ideological differences.
Bora was an active Congress leader of the Titabar LAC and his resignation from the party is expected to harm the party’s chances in the ensuing election.
“Bora has a strong organisational knowledge and his joining the BJP will help the party immensely. We welcome him with open heart,” Tasa added.
“The BJP is trying to woo the voters riding on the success of our several developmental schemes and works. The Congress, on the other hand, has stooped to the lowest level of politics and it has left no stone unturned to hurl abuses on us,” he further added.
“The good and dedicated Congress leaders are sidelined and so more and more of their leaders are joining the BJP. I am confident that the BJP will win from the Titabar constituency convincingly,” he asserted.
He further alleged that the people of the constituency have been deprived of several basic facilities like clean drinking water for the last 15 years.
“Whereas, the people in Majuli have gained access to these facilities within the last 5 years,” he further said.
Lashing out on Bhaskar Jyoti Baruah- the Congress candidate from Titabar, Tasa said, “A person who cannot run his private tea garden with efficiency, how can one even expect that such a person will be able to look after the constituency affairs. People of Titabar know who is best suited for them and their all-round development.”
