Confident of the party’s victory from Sorbhog and Jania assembly constituencies in the Barpeta district, Assam BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass said that the party would organise a victory fair in the district after the results are declared.
He was addressing the media before taking part in a rally that was organised as BJP’s Sorbhog and Jania constituencies’ candidates, respectively Shankar Chandra Das and Shahidul Islam, filed their nomination papers.
“The Congress-AIUDF alliance thinks that the minority votes, especially the Muslim votes, are reserved only for them. However, we will prove them wrong this time,” Dass said.
“The minorities not only faced several atrocities during the Congress regime, but they were mercilessly killed as well. The minorities feel safe under the BJP rule,” he added.
It may be mentioned here that Dass is the incumbent MLA of Sorbhog. However, he will be contesting the ensuing polls from the Patacharkuchi assembly constituency of the newly formed Bajali district.
On being asked the reason for this change of constituency, he said, “The development of Sorbhog constituency is 95 per cent complete and anyone contesting from a BJP ticket will win from here.”
“My aim now is to work for the people of Patacharkuchi. So I have decided to contest from the constituency,” Dass added.
“After the Bajali district was formed, a total of 63 different organisations requested me to contest the 2021 polls from Patacharkuchi so that the constituency is developed,” Dass said.
“I am committed to the development of the Patacharkuchi constituency and its people,” Dass added.
