Three persons were killed in a shooting suspected to be connected to a land dispute in the Peren district on March 22.
As per reports, the victims were fired upon by a group of unidentified armed assailants, while clearing the jungle, in a place reported to be Lamhainamdi.
As per the police in Peren, the shooting happened sometime between 3:00-4:00 pm in a disputed belt of the Dimapur-Peren district boundary. The actual place of the shooting was still to be established, however.
At the time of filing this report, the police confirmed the recovery of three dead bodies at the place of the incident, while stating that the bodies were being transported to Jalukie. More details were awaited.
Meanwhile, Civil society organisations of Peren district have called for bandh after armed miscreants shot dead three persons at Lamhainamdi village in the district.
