Assam Election 2021: 45.20% Turnout Recorded Till 1 PM; Violence Witnessed in Samaguri

Around 45.20 per cent of voters have exercised their franchise till 1 pm on Saturday in the first phase of the Assam Assembly election which is underway in 47 constituencies.

The first phase of polling will decide the fate of 264 candidates including 23 female candidates.

Voting began across 11,537 polling stations mostly coverinViolence Witnssedg the eastern Assam’s 12 districts at 7 a.m.

Meanwhile, according to reports, electoral violence was reported in the Samuguri constituency of Assam, where the sitting Congress MLA is Rockybull Hussain.

Allegedly, Congress goons attacked BJP workers and seriously injured one and vandalised 2 vehicles.
