Nagaland | 5-Yr-Old Minor Raped by a 55-Yr Old Man, Local Body Condemns

Various organizations on Sunday voiced out against the alleged rape of a 5-year old girl by a 55-year old man on March 19.

According to reports, Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum (DDCF) strongly condemned the crime and urged the concerned authorities to book the culprit and punish him befittingly as per the provisions of the law, at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the Dimapur Sümi Students’ Union (DSSU) expressed dismay and asserted that such a detestable act will not be tolerated in society. Condemning the act, the union appealed to law enforcement officers to rigorously investigate the matter so that justice may be delivered.

On the other hand, the Nagaland Garo Mother’s Association (NGMA) expressed deep shock and demanded that the culprit, a permanent resident of Tening under Peren district and presently residing at half Nagarajan, Dimapur should be awarded severest punishment. It appealed to law enforcement agencies to act swiftly in delivering justice to the innocent victim and her family. Further, the NGMA extended sympathy towards the victim and her family.

Also, the NWHD stated that as a society, we must introspect at the erosion of values and our repeated failure to ensure the security of our women and children. It is critical for all of us to reflect on why these barbaric acts keep recurring in our midst, it stated. The Hoho called for justice and demanded befitting punishment for the culprit so that no such crime against women and children is repeated in the future.
