The Congress is contesting the 2021 Assam assembly polls to save the state from BJP’s misrule, said senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot in Silchar on Sunday.

He was addressing an election rally in Silchar while campaigning for the second phase of the election.

“We are not fighting to come to power, but to save the people of Assam from the misrule of the BJP,” Pilot said.

“The BJP Government never stood by the people of Assam during the hour of crisis,” he added.

“The BJP is dividing people into religious lines. It’s time that we remove BJP from power in Assam,” he added.

“In five years, the BJP gave Assam CAA, autocracy, inflation and communalism, but not jobs. Congress has guaranteed that it will give five lakh government jobs,” he further said.

The senior Congress leader further said employment opportunities is what Assam requires immediately.
