Centre Enhances Remdesivir Allocation To Northeast

The Union Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers (MoC&F) on May 16 informed that the Centre has enhanced the allocation of Remdesivir vials to the northeast.

As per the data made available by the ministry, from April 6 to May 16, 2000, Remdesivir vials were provided to Arunachal Pradesh, which has been increased to 4000 vials from April 21 to May 23.

Similarly, from 31000 vials, the number has been increased to 60,000 vials in Assam; in Manipur, it has been increased to 6,000 from 2,000; in Meghalaya, the number has gone up to 5,000 from 2,000; in Mizoram, it has been increased to 4,000 from 2,000; in Nagaland, it has been increased to 5,000 from 2,000; in Sikkim, the number has been increased to 5,000 from 2,000 and in Tripura, the number has been increased to 5,000 from 2,000.

The union health ministry has informed that Remdesivir is “an investigational therapy drug given in acute and severe versions of COVID-19 where oxygen support is a must.”
