Nagaland health minister S Pangnyu Phom inaugurated the state’s first Pressure Swing Absorption (PSA) Oxygen Generation Plant at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) on May 17.
Funded by PM Cares, the PSA Oxygen Generation Plant has the capacity to produce 300 litres of oxygen per minute while 18,000 litres per hour.
Dr Neikiesalie Kire, Urban Development & Municipal Affairs along with other officials from The Health & Family Welfare Department were also present on the occasion.
“I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan for generously supporting our state in combating the Pandemic,” Phom said after the inauguration.
The sample of oxygen produced by the PSA was sent for testing on May 10, followed by a quality test of the oxygen on May 13 that completed on May 14.

“There is sufficient stock of oxygen and the state is fully prepared to face even the worst situation amidst the increasing number of fresh infections,” said Dr Neisakho Kere.
It may be mentioned here that the construction of two more PSA plants in Dimapur and Mokokchung is in progress.
While the other districts of the state will also attain PSA Oxygen Generation Plants funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF).
