After a prolonged gap, Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission informed the media that the results of the Civil service examination 2020 (mains) will be released by August. Exams for 111 vacancies across different departments were conducted between  6-14 February. APPSC secretary Jayant Kumar, when asked about the reason behind prolonged delay of declaration of the mains result, stated that due to Covid restrictions, the staff being less than full strength, could not process the results in time.

It is worth mentioning that the secretary had issued a similar statement in June, failure of which had led to a renewed public outcry on the incompetence of the commission which is already marred by several controversies in the past.

1200 Candidates who had appeared for the mains examination had been eagerly waiting for the results to be announced by the Commission. Earlier they had expressed their discontentment through various platforms including social media platforms and open letters addressed to the editors of several newspapers. In it, they had expressed their concern of overshooting the age limit, frustration, and depression as a result of inordinate delay in result declaration. Many have demanded a tentative exam and result calendar to be maintained by the Commission for every examination conducted by the highest exam conducting body of the state.
