After a prolonged pandemic gap, the parlours and salons of East Khasi Hills have been allowed to reopen from July 19. The Deputy Commissoner informed of this decision which is sure to bring relief to the salon owners and employees.
The women-centric business of salon and beauty parlour has witnessed dire deprivation due to the coronavirus pandemic. Apart from the lockdown measures, many customers have stayed away from them fearing infection.
However certain guidelines laid down Health and Family Welfare Department will have to be followed by these outlets.
Staff with symptoms like fever, cough, and throat pain are not allowed to come to work, the same being applied to the customers as well. No one inside the premises is allowed without N95 or a double mask. Maintaining physical distance and sanitisation of hands are compulsory. Services like hair cutting and shaving are permitted for now provided they do not exceed 15 – 20 minutes. All the pieces of equipment and the premises shall have to be frequently sanitised. The staff and owner should be vaccinated with the vaccination status displayed. Appointments based on tokens should be maintained to avoid crowding.
“Anyone found violating the protocol will entail the closure of the shop,” Isawanda Laloo Deputy Commissioner East Khasi Hills District Shillong informed.
“We have suffered drastically ever since covid happened. We will follow each & every protocol to the fullest and cooperate with the rules made by the government.
