Nitin Gadkari Inaugurates Makru Bridge, Unveils 16 New Projects In Manipur

On Monday July 12, the Union Minister of Road Transport and and Highways Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the Makru Bridge and laid foundation stone for 16 projects.

He inaugurated the following at an event organized by the state government at the City Convention Centre, Palace Compound.

The Makru bridge is located 189 km away from the State capital Imphal. It will improve connectivity between Assam and Manipur along with other key areas of the state.

The projects cover a length of 298 kms with an investment of Rs 4,148 Crore.

Gadkari said projects worth Rs 5,000 crore have already been sanctioned for the state. Detailed Project Reports (DPR) will be completed within six months and the work will commence within an year.

The expansion of highways in the state will be recommended under the Bharatmala Phase ll Pariyojana.

Manipur CM, N. Biren Singh asserted the bridge over the Barak river would be completed by September this year.

While, the third bridge over the Irung river was likely to be completed by December 2021.
