Manipur : Jharkhand Resident Held For Fake COVID-19 Test Report, Sent To Remand Till July 22

Recently, a Jharkhand resident was detained by a team of Singjamei police, for trying to board an IndiGo flight using fake COVID-19 test report.

Identified as Md. Anwar Ali, the individual was produced before the Deputy Magistrate, Imphal West on Sunday July 18.

The Deputy Magistrate Imphal West District extended his remand on police custody for five days, till July 22.

According to Sangai Express report, while producing the individual before the court, the Investigating Officer (IO) reported the accused was detained after the Airport Manager, Interglobe Aviation Limited reported the possible forgery of COVID test report.

Anwar revealed that he worked for Krishna Construction Company, Mantripukhri Manipur branch as a loader operator. He disclosed his arrival to Imphal on December 2020.

Engaged with the extension of two-lanes from Churachandpur to Tuivai section, he travelled from Churachandpur to reach Kolkata.

The apprehended needs to be interrogated in regard to extract more clues, the IO revealed.
