Assam : COVID-19 Test Mandatory For Passengers Arriving From NE States

In a major development on the screening procedure of COVID-19, the Assam Government has decided to issue fresh new directives for the pandemic. On Monday July 19, the state Health & Family Welfare department (HFW) issued a notification concerning to all passengers from other Northeast (NE) states, arriving into the state.

Signed by Anurag Goel, the Principal Secretary, Government of Assam, the notification has been ordered by Governor of the state.

The notification stated that strict containment measures including continuous screening of incoming passengers through airports and railway stations should be conducted to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

As the significant spike in positive cases, across all the regious have been an immediate concern. So, the state government has decided to conduct Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) or Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests to all the passengers from north-eastern states arriving into the state.
