On Thursday July 29, the Yazaki India Pvt Ltd under Yazaki Corporation Japan has expressed its wish to set up a wire harnessing unit in Manipur. This initiation will help to generate employment for around 1500-2000 youths of the state.
During a virtual conference meeting, the offer was extended by the Managing Director (MD) of Yazaki India Private Ltd. Prasant Nayak.
The state Textiles, Commerce and Industry Minister Thongam Biswajit along with other state officials attended the conference.
Nayak further asserted that Yazaki India is a company that produces zero pollution, and is keen to start a manufacturing plant in Manipur.
The state Textiles Minister, while accepting the offer, told the MD, that necessary arrangements can only be possible after the consultation with the state Chief Minister (CM), N. Biren Singh.
Further, the state will look after providing land for the harnessing unit.
During the conference, the MD stated on the employment rate generated by the company.
It said that Yazaki Pvt. Ltd provides employment to over 12,000 people in its manufacturing plant located at Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand and Delhi.
He further states that set-up of this manufacturing plant in Manipur will let the state commence trade with South East Asian countries, thereby developing the economy of the state.
The textile minister stated that unemployment issue can be reduced if more entrepreneurs begin their manufacturing plant in the state.
He further states that, although people outside Manipur think of a bad law and order situation prevailing in Manipur, but there is immense peace in the state.
Furthermore, the condition of roads in the state has improved with the introduction of the Trans Asian Highway, he added.
Officials of Textiles Commerce and Industry Manipur, including its joint director RK Dinesh, joint secretary Mercina Panmei and director Lourembam Bikram, Chief executive officer PV Raju, and Assistant Vice-President Deepa Dinesh of Yazaki India Private Ltd were also present during the conference.
