After Mizoram removing the name of Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma from FIR lodged over the Vairengte shootout Assam has also reciprocated by withdrawing the FIR against Mizoram MP K. Vanlalvena. Vanlalvena had given some incendiary statements regarding the day’s events.

The Chief Minister of Assam tweeted “I have noted statements in media by Honble CM @ZoramthangaCM wherein he has expressed his desire to settle the border dispute amicably. Assam always wants to keep the spirit of North East alive. We are also committed to ensuring peace along our borders.”

According to an NDTV report on August 1, Sunday after the telephonic discussion with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Himanta Biswa Sarma Mizoram CM Zoramthanga said that the border dispute is going to be solved amicably through discussion.

The central govt has also asked both the states to restore the movement of vehicles especially the emergency and essential supplies. They have also asked both the states police forces not to carry lethal weapons while visiting the conflict zone now manned by central armed forces.
