India with the win has confirmed a medal clash. They will now face Argentina in the semifinals. The Argentinians outclassed the Germans by 3-0.
India dominated all four quarters with 59% of the ball possession. Drag-flicker Gurjit Kaur converted India’s first penalty corner in the 22nd minute to give India the winning goal.
The Aussies had more shots with 14 compared to a paltry 4 from Indians but India’s robust defence created an impenetrable wall not letting the ball pass through.
A shout-out to Indian goalkeeper Savita brought her A-game and saved all the 9 shots directed towards her.
