As Assam & Mizoram governments try to mend ties over Vairengte clashes, tensions at the border refuse to die down. Acrimony between those staying on both sides of the border still seems to be brewing as intermittent reports of attacks against each other continue to come in.

According to a Time8 (a Guwahati-based media outlet) report, on the intervening night of 2nd and 3rd August, alleged Mizo miscreants burned down the home of one Azad Hussain in Lailapur. According to Hussain a group of 7-8 individuals entered his house and threatened him and his family. Later they burnt down his house after chasing them away.

Hussain and his family reported the incident to Lailapur Police on August 3 morning. As per the latest updates they are taking shelter in Lailapur Police station.

As per the agreement between both the governments in New Delhi the disputed area will be manned by Central Armed Police Force. Later it was also decided that both the state’s police personnel shall not visit the area where the clashes took place on July 26 with arms.
