On Monday, August 23, the local footballers launched Academy Knights Foundation to groom young footballers of Sikkim as the future professionals.
Founder and ONGC Mumbai player, Palzor Lepcha asserted that Knights Foundation aims to train and develop U-23 players for professional football career.
“We want our players to develop professional football attitude and help them enrol in big football clubs in future both in State as well as outside the State,” informed Lepcha.
According to the conference as many as 20 players have already been enrolled for the following.
These selected players will be trained under former Sikkim Boys Club footballer, Sunny Chamling at Tadong College ground from today.
“Our foundation consists of hostellers from the 2014 batch of State Sports Academy and few senior players of Sikkim. Also YG Collections and big clubs like Sikkim Aakraman FC and Sikkim Himalayan SC are extending their support which is our key motivation for now,” said Lepcha.
The founder further urged the football enthusiasts to come forward and become a part of the foundation.
Meanwhile, all the 20 players were welcomed into the foundation through a grand programme, that witnessed the launch of the official jersey of the foundation.
