A convoy of trucks carrying goods was attacked in the Dima Hasao district of Assam. Suspected DNLA militants shot and killed five drivers. Miscreants torched the trucks later. The incident took place at around 8:30 in the night on the 26th of August, 2021 at the Umrangso- Lanka road under the Lal Bazar area.
As soon as the reports of the attack came it police rushed to the spot to investigate the attack. Till now no arrests have been made.
The trucks were carrying cement and coal and were on the way to Lanka and were moving as a convoy of seven. One of the escapee drivers told the media that armed individuals were blocking the road and started shooting as the trucks drew near.
According to reports DNLA is known to be active in the area carrying one-off incidents such as these.
