Recently, the Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) had busted a member involved in a huge racket, dealing with forged documents as – Class X and XII certificates, and marksheet.
While addressing a press briefing at Kwakeithel, the Vice president of DESAM Oinam Shital said that certain forged documents were also seized from the person.
Acting on specific inputs, the DESAM members shared of finding for the racket since receiving information of their felonious activity.
The apprehended person has been identified as Golmei Solomon, a resident of Kangpokpi district.
With further search, the DESAM members has retrieved two Class XII certificates, one Class XI certificate and two Class X certificates from his possession.
The Vice-President further revealed that buyers of Class XII certificates were planning to submit the fake documents in Manipur police recruitment process.
Meanwhile, the buyers were trying to attain admission to Class XI, through the Class X certificate.
The Vice-President further added that all the seized documents utilized the duplicate logos and signature of issuing authority of Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BoSEM) and Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (CoHSEM).
The price of a forged Class X certificate is Rs 18,000 while that of Class XII is as high as Rs 20,000.
For making the fake certificates, a PAN or Aadhaar Card or a registration certificate and a passport size photograph were asked to submit, he added.
As per DESAM, Golmei ran the racket Kamei, a teacher at Tengkhojang Higher Secondary School, Noney, one person from JNIMS road who recently succumbed to COVID-19 and another person identified as K Rana.
The racket was using the name of Thangtong High School, Motbung High School and MBC Higher Secondary School.
DESAM Vice-President further asserted while expressing suspicion of BOSEM and COHSEM staff involvement in running the scam.
Furthermore, the apprehended will be soon handed over to the authority concerned along with a report.
The DESAM Vice-President appealed to the people to be cautious.
