The former Governor of Nagaland, RN Ravi has instituted “Governor’s Excellence Award in Science Study of HSSLC Examination”, to encourage the students of Nagaland to excel in the study of Basic Sciences.
It will be given to the best 6 students in science stream with subject combination Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM) & Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB).
According to press release, the winner will be awarded with Rs 1 lakh. The 2nd will attain an amount worth Rs 50,000, while the student who achieves the 3rd position will receive an amount of Rs 25,000.
However, the following guidelines shall govern the “Governor’s Excellence Award in Science Study of HSSLC Examination”.
The Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examination award will be provided to the best 6 students in order of merit in the HSSLC Examination in science stream conducted by Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE).
This award will carry a citation and cash prize.
Besides, only students belonging to any Indigenous Scheduled Tribe of the state as notified by the Government will be considered eligible for the award.
The students should secure 80% or more in their aggregate to avail the award. Moreover, student’s performance in PCM & PCB will determine the award in each category.
The best students with both subject combinations will be selected in order of mark secured.
They will be placed as 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category i.e. students who have opted Mathematics as their main elective subject as PCM category and students who have opted Biology as their main elective subject as PCB.
Besides, candidates scoring the highest aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM) or Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) will be considered.
The statement further reads, in case of tie in the marks and aggregate, whosoever secures higher marks in the external assessment of PCM or PCB will be considered.
In case of another tie, the following norms shall be followed:
PCB : the marks of Chemistry to be considered first, and then marks of Biology, whichever is higher.
PCM : the marks of mathematics to be considered first, and then marks of Physics, whichever is higher.
Meanwhile, in case of further tie, the award will be shared.
