Mizoram: Assam Rifles Apprehends Myanmarese Nationals With Weapons

In a major operation, the Lunglei Battalion of Assam Rifles of Headquarter 23 Sector Assam Rifles recovered an automatic rifle of Myanmarese origin under the possession of two individuals from Myanmar. The operation was carried out on 15 Sept 2021 in Sekul-Lui River in between Village Zochachua and Varang of Lawngtlai district based on a tip-off.

The operation was conducted by Assam Rifles personnel from the Zorinpui post of Lunglei Battalion along with Mizoram police personnel stationed at Bungtlang outpost, Lawngtlai District. The team was following- up on the information of exchange of weapons near Laitlang, right on the Indo-Myanmar border. The joint Assam Rifles  Mizoram Polie team laid an ambush along the Sekul-Lui river. Upon the approach of a boat on the river, the team stopped it and carried out a detailed search of the boat, and recovered an automatic rifle of Myanmarese origin, a magazine, and 26 rounds of ammunition.
