On October 2021, a Central Government team will visit the Indo-Myanmar border to verify the disputed pillar set along the region, asserted by Union Committee Manipur (UCM).

The decision has been undertaken in response to a memorandum submitted in connection with border pillar issue.

According to UCM President Joychandra Konthoujam, the Union Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs RK Ranjan have invited UCM members to further discuss the issue.

During the meeting, the MoS shared that a high level team of border cells from the Centre will visit the region.

Besides, UCM has further demanded to invite Myanmar authority during the land verification process.

The committee has also urged the MoS to immediately halt the ongoing construction work of border fencing until the verification process is completed.

Earlier on August, the Committee had strongly condemned the continuation of construction work of Indo-Myanmar border fencing.

It has informed about the changing positions of border pillar 81 and border pillar 82 from its original place.
