Tripura: Repatriation In Process For Two More Indian Nationals Incarcerated In Bangladesh

Days after the repatriation of Mukul Hazarika to Assam through Tripura, two more Indian nationals will be repatriated back to their homeland Tripura viaKailashahar check post from Moulvibazar district jail in Bangladesh shortly.

TIPRA Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Deb Barman and Tripura Tribal welfare minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia wrote a letter to the High Commission of India in Bangladesh a week back requesting the repatriation of two Indian nationals to Tripura.

The Superintendent of Police of the Unakoti district was informed by the special branch (SB) department that the repatriation of Rajib Debbarma and Gurupadma Debbarma, both Indian nationals from Bangladesh to Tripura would be done shortly through the Kailashahar Check Post.

 

The SB department wrote “It is to inform that two prisoners namely Shri Rajib Debbarma and Shri Gurupadma Debbarma, both are resident of Langarabari, East Karangichera, under Champahour police station, in Khowai district have completed their jail term in Moulvibazar district Jail, Bangladesh. They are likely to be repatriated through Kailashahar Check Post of Unakoti district in Tripura”.

The District SP also requested to coordinate with the concerned BSF and BGB authorities regarding the date and time of handing over of aforesaid persons and intimate the action taken report to this office.

They had been detained for not having valid Passport, VISA, etc under section 1973 Bangladesh Passport  Act and it is also seen that they had been released from the prison after trial on 2 March 2021.
