Recently, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Manipur unit asserted that the party has set it’s ambitious target on attaining a 2/3 majority in the upcoming elections for the assembly.
According to Manipur unit BJP senior vice-president N Nimbus, BJP is targeting to win at least 40 out of the 60 seats.
“Our target is to win not less than 40 seats to command a two-third majority in the coming polls. We will go it alone without entering into a pre-poll alliance,” – Nimbus stated.
During the BJP’s core committee meeting convened in Imphal, the house decided to form various committees at all levels to systemize the electioneering exercise.
The meeting further decided to divide the party into four zones with each zone comprising 20 seats.
This process has been followed as preparatory measure to field nominees in all 60 seats.
“As a preparatory measure to field our nominees in all 60 seats, we had divided them into four zones with each zone comprising 20 seats. Four teams of our party headed by senior leaders had completed visiting the constituencies to study ground realities at the organisational level,” – added Nimbus.
It is pertinent to note that upcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly Election will be held during March 2022.
