Schools Coming Under Grip Of Covid19 In Arunachal Pradesh; RKM School Declared Containment Zone

On 20 September,  altogether 22 numbers of Covid-19 positive cases were reported among students and staff of Ramakrishna Mission School, Narrottam Nagar, Tirap district.

Following the alarming rise in cases the school had been declared as a COVID containment zone with immediate effect by Additional Deputy Commissioner Deomali, Tirap district exercising his power under Disaster Management Act 2005. Further, entry and exit of any person to and from the containment zone have been prohibited for 10 days or till further order.

The measure has been taken to contain the possibility of further spread of Coronavirus, read the interim containment order released by Akan Regon, ADC Deomali.

It may be noted that Arunachal Pradesh had reopened all educational institutes including residential ones for offline classes since 13 September. The institutes were required to strictly adhere to the SOP issued.

But the sporadic cases of schools being declared as containment zone are coming to light. Earlier too on 16 September Covid-19 cases were detected in a residential school in Hapoli, Lower Subansiri district forcing the District administration to declare the school as a micro-containment zone.
