Manipur Government Relaxes COVID-19 Lockdown Till October 21

On Wednesday, September 22, the Manipur Government has issued an official notification stating that ongoing lockdown to fight COVID-19 pandemic will be relaxed for one month ending on October 21.

The decision was undertaken after the situation has improved across the state.

However, the night curfew would remain in force from 8:30 PM till 4 AM.

The notification further states that 3 women’s markets within the Imphal city, along with two major markets – Paona and Thangal can be opened for two days in a week based on a rotation basis.

Other markets and shops across the state will be allowed to open likewise.

However, district administrations will strictly enforce the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Banks and post offices will function during usual working hours.

Besides, restaurants and other hotels will be allowed to open within the permitted hours.

Public transporters can operate with 50% of the seat capacity. Recently, there have been demands to allow buses and other public transporters to ply since they have not been earning anything all these months.

Only 20 persons will be allowed to attend community lunches, mass gathering such as – weddings, funerals etc.
