Recently, during a consultative meeting, various civil society bodies of Manipur agreed the decision of All Tribal Students’ Union, Manipur (ATSUM) to boycott the government event ‘Go to Hills 2.0’ in Kangpokpi district.
The meeting was attended by – Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi, Kuki Students’ Organization Sadar Hills, Kuki Women Union Sadar Hills, Thadou Youth Association Kangpokpi, Zillai Kangpokpi, Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kangpokpi Youth Union
It comprehensively discussed about Manipur (Hill Areas) Autonomous District Council Bill, 2021.
The civil bodies informed about formulations decided during this meeting.
According to Ukhrul Times report, thei meeting resolved that state government should convene a special session of Manipur Legislative Assembly to table the HAC recommended ADC Bill, 2021.
Secondly, it resolved that reason for the withdrawal of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker’s orders is declared ‘unacceptable’.
It has been considered so, as the following withdrawal is not based on “Rules of Procedures and Conduct of Business” in the Manipur Legislative Assembly read writ Article 371(C).
Thirdly, the meeting also resolved that ATSUM decision to boycott ‘Go to Hills 2.0’ campaign is endorsed.
Besides, the boycott movement will continue until the HAC recommended ADC Bill, 2021 is tabled and Speaker’s order is withdrawn with a valid reason.
The meeting also decided to stage a sit-in protest against state government, if the later attempts to continue the programme in Kangpokpi district.
