The Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Minister Jacob Zhimomi announced that all rural households of Nagaland will get Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) by March 2023.

He declared about the same during a mid-year review meeting on Jal Jeevan Mission.

Besides, Jhimomi urged the officials to plan, prepare, and formulate policy to implement the available materials.

He further added that sufficient funds have already been allocated for the state.

Therefore, executive officers of all districts have been asked to accelerate the work pace along with Water and Sanitation (WATSAN) Committees and contractors.

The minister also informed concerned officials that funds will be sanctioned on the basis of work progress.

“As far as fund is concerned, there are no constraints, so I don’t see any reason to slow down the pace of work,” – asserted Jhimomi.

He directed officials to set a daily target, upload it on the Integrated Management Information System (IMIS), and take feedback from beneficiaries.

It is pertinent to note that ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ is envisioned to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections by 2024 to all rural families across the nation.
