Governor Unfurls 60 Feet High Indian National Flag At Tawang War Memorial

As part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig Dr. BD Mishra (retd) unfurled 60 feet high National Flag at Tawang War Memorial amid cheers of Army Jawans and residents of Tawang.

“Celebrating the ‘AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV’, inaugurated and unfurled the National Flag atop a grand 60 feet high mast at Tawang War Memorial, Tawang,” the Governor of Arunachal tweeted.

“Proudly and ceremoniously dedicated the high mast flag to the Nation, in a very dignified function organised by 190 Mountain Brigade and sponsored by the Flag Foundation of India,” he shared in another tweet.

Speaking on the occasion the Governor termed Mishra called the National Flag as a symbol of unity and integrity. It infuses nationalism, sacrifice, and fraternity in the hearts and minds of the citizens.

He also reminisced about his participation in India’s first Independence Day. A student of Class-V student he had held a paper-made National flag on the 15th of August, 1947.

Various cultural programs and performances took place on the occasion, local songs, dances, Bhangra, Kalarippayattu were performed by cultural troupes and army jawans. Artistes from Monpa Institute of Performing Arts, 10 Madras, and 24 Sikh performed.

Only a few days back the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal was received at the Tawang War Memorial by Defense MoS Ajay Bhatt on the 23rd of September 2021. The Swarnim Vijay Mahsaal is currently on tour across the nation as part of the Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations. The golden victory year is being observed to commemorate 50 years of India’s dominating victor in the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

Earlier CM Pema Khandu had received the Mashaal in Tawang with great fanfare & huge participation of Tawang’s residents.
