As Tripura approaches elections of civic bodies, Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb has started holding meetings with the booth level leaders to mobilise the grassroot karyakartas
On Saturday, CM Deb met with Ratan Chakraborty, MLA of Khayerpur Assembly constituency, who is also the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Mandal President, Ward Presidents and all the booth presidents.
“In the meeting we discussed increasing the organizational strength. Everyone present resolved to move forward with the principles of the party,” Deb added.
The review meeting started earlier on Friday from Bardowali Mandal where the CM discussed what needs to be done to strengthen the organization and make the benefits of various government projects available to the general public.
CM Deb said that the BJP is a party of workers, and the party will be strong only if the workers are well organized.
He also met with the MLAs of Ramnagar Assembly constituency, Mandal presidents, ward presidents and all the booth presidents and discussed various issues of the organization.
“We have to work in the future by following these three mantras of equality, temperament and virtue,” Deb said.
Tripura has a total of 20 urban local bodies comprising 13 municipal councils, six Nagar panchayats and one municipal corporation.
The Tripura government had delayed the polls for all 20 civic bodies. The tenure for most of the bodies ended on December 21 last year in 2020. Since then, the elections of the civic bodies are pending.
It is expected the poll dates will be announced shortly after the festive season gets over. All the political parties have been demanding the announcement of the civic body elections since the ADC elections were conducted.
