The Left Coordination Committee of Manipur have demanded the resignation of Chief Minister N Biren Singh for his inability to nab the perpetrators involved in the grievous killing of Athuan Abonmai – President of Zeliangrong Boudi.

Communist Party of India (CPI), Manipur State Council spokesperson Rk Amusana asserted the state government’s interest into elections as a shameless act.

It also criticized the CM for been unable to deal with illegal activities of National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak Muivah (NSCN-IM), thereby failing to destroy the camps of such banned outfits currently functioning in the state.

Stating that NSCN-IM has been involved in killing innocents and collecting illegal taxes, Rk Amusana asserted that such organization should be pushed back from the state.

“It was surprising that the state government which boasted of having improved the relationship between hills and valleys is silent on the matter of Athuan Abonmai killing. It is pertinent to question whether there were two governments in the state – one in the hills and one in the valley,” – added Amusana.

Amusana stated that recent peace-talks between Centre and NSCN-IM have stopped the government to blame the insurgent group for the murder of Athuan Abonmai.

On September 22, unidentified gunmen allegedly abducted him from the venue in Tamenglong district where Manipur CM and some other ministers held a public function.

It is pertinent to note that body of Athuan Abonmei was found on September 22 night along the Tamenlong-Tamei road in Manipur.

He was found shot in the head 28 km away from where he was abducted.
