When the country is taking pride in 100 crore inoculation of Covid-19 vaccine, 5 districts from Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh with less than or 20 percent administration of first dose is becoming cause of concern for the Government of India. Prime Minister has boosted India’s record achievement of 100 crore vaccination doses in the global platforms.

According to the data available with Union Ministry of Health, Nagaland’s Kiphire district has registered the lowest rate of vaccination in the country. When 77.44 percent of country’s adult population is vaccinated by 1st dose, only 16 percent residents of Kiphire district had the opportunity to take the 1st jab of approved Covid-19 vaccine.

Unfortunately, there are four districts in Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh having more than 80percent of the population without even the first dose being administered; hence living in extreme vulnerable condition.

Besides, Kiphire, Kangpokpi and Ukhrul of Manipur have administered 17.1 percent and 19.6percent of their population. Administration of Kra Daadi district of Arunachal Pradesh, on other hand, could administer only 18.3 percent of population. Tuensang district of Nagaland somehow could touch the 20 percent mark with 20.8percent.

Meanwhile, in the entire Northeast, there are 27districts lagging behind in the vaccination front with more than 50 percent of the people within being vaccinated at all. In the entire country, there are 48 districts with first dose coverage of less than 50percent. In Jharkhand, there are nine districts where more than 50percent population is vulnerable to Corona virus without a single dose being administered. This number (of district) is highest in the country. In this parameter Manipur and Nagaland have eight districts each. Arunachal has six districts; Meghalaya has four and Assam has one.
