As many as 60 inmates and five staffs of Namchi Central Jail, Sikkim have been tested positive for COVID-19, as informed by the Health Department.
According to PTI report, Sikkim registered a sudden surge in COVID-19 cases on Friday as 76 more people, including these inmates tested positive for the infection, taking the Himalayan state’s caseload to 32,343.
However, the death toll remained unchanged at 403, and no fresh fatalities have been reported, informed a health bulletin.
The remaining 11 cases have been reported from East Sikkim district. Sikkim currently have 206 active cases, while 31,394 people have recovered from the infection.
The recovery rate stands at 98.1 per cent. While, 2,71,672 samples for COVID-19 have been tested so far.
